I had a nice chat this morning with Bob, N7ODM in Bozeman, Mt. If you recall he was the ham who heard the distress signal from the hiker in the Cascades with a broken leg last summer who used his Rockmite 40 to call for help. Bob summoned local SAR to pack him out with horses.

Later, Don, N8JIW near Cleveland, OH. said he was using a Ten-Tenna. You have to check this antenna out for yourselves. His 40 meter half wave dipole is 30 inches long, and it works! The 40 meter model can be used on up to 10 meters with a tuner. Don was on 20 meters with his Ten-Tenna with a 559 signal.

Ken, NL7HJ lives in Danali Park, Ak., and said Jeff King, world champion musher and winner of the Iditarod Dog Sled Race lives just up the road from him and he has known him for 30 years. The race starts in early March from Anchorage to Nome, over 1,000 miles by dog sled!

Still no DX, but fun to learn to know other Hams and just “Chew The Rag”, Stan.
